Boiling water units

Further information

Contact us

The University is responsible for the provision and maintenance of boiling water supplies.

Tests have shown that a boiling water unit is far more cost-efficient than a conventional hot water urn.

The boiling water units require less maintenance if fitted with an inlet water filter. The water filter provides better quality water to the customer.

Procedure

When conventional hot water urns break down around the University campus they will be replaced, at no cost to the customer, with filtered boiling water units provided that this is physically possible and that funds are available. Otherwise, the urn will be repaired.

Facilities Management will replace the filter cartridges in the boiling water units without cost to the customer as required by the maintenance schedule for that unit.

Boiling water units will be provided with an inlet water filter.
